Meet Entries Please send (e-mail) your meet entries to the home school coach no later than 2 days before the meet. List your athletes in descending order (Best to Worse) for lane and flight seeding purposes)
If you are conducting a home meet and you have an event that for some reason will not be contested, please contact visiting coaches 2 days beforehand.
If you are conducting a home meet and you do not have anyone to officiate a field event, please contact the visiting coaches 2 days beforehand and see if they have someone qualified to officiate that event.
If you are not planning on attending a scheduled weekday meet, please contact the host school.
Visiting teams are to provide 1 adult/coach finish line timer and provide 1 field event judge. Scoring If a Varsity Relay team (A Team) is disqualified, the JV team(s) (B Team) cannot score. You must designate your varsity team when checking in with the Clerk of the Course.
The number of participating teams will determine the scoring that will be used according to the National High School Federation Rulebook.
Junior Varsity events are non-scoring.
Recommendations Open Pit Long Jump….usually 1 hour to 1hr 15 min in length. It is recommended that the better jumpers (varsity) be allowed to get their jumps in early in the rotation. They will most likely be running other varsity events during the middle of the meet and may not have a chance to return to the pit.
Open Pit Triple Jump….Will follow immediately after the conclusion of the Long Jump
Athletes in the LJ, TJ, Shot Put and Discus will receive 3-4 throws. No finals are to be held. Note: Be sure that in all of these events competitors receive the same number of attempts. Example: If discus gets 4 attempts, LJ, TJ and Shot also gets 4 attempts.
Starting heights in the HJ and PV will be determined at the start of the meet by the Home school with input from the Visiting team’s head coach.
In the Pole Vault and High Jump consider giving 2 attempts instead of 3 for the first 2 heights (opening height and the next height). This will speed up the event. It is used in the Northern Conference meets with regularity.
Pole vaulters MUST have a waiver form on file with their coach before vaulting. (See enclosed “Death Waiver”) . Vaulters may NOT vault on a pole rated below their body weight
In the shot put and discus, a 40 degree sector will be used. The shot and discus sector MUST be roped off as a safety measure. All implements become “property of the event area” and may be used by anyone in the competition. Please label your schools’ implements with your school name.
Warm-up for a field event CANNOT begin until the event official it at the event site.
HOST SCHOOL RESPONSIBILITY
The home school is responsible for running off the meet. There may be situations where a visiting school’s coach may have to help with a field event. If that is the case, please notify the visiting school before the meet. The home school will provide all track equipment with the exception of batons, starting blocks, shots, discuses and vaulting poles. The home school is responsible for sending results to the media immediately after the meet. The Review Journal’s e-mail address is dseiters@reviewjournal.com . Results should also be sent to the visiting schools. Also please e-mail your meet results (weekday and Invitational results) to Nevada Track Stats (Dixon@interact.ccsd.net). This is very important. Since we have qualifying standards for 4A Regionals, all results must be sent to NTS. NTS will be publishing all the Regional qualifiers on the Honor Roll.
A meeting of all head coaches should be held prior to the start of the meet.
The home school should have all of the heat/flight sheets completed and in the press box before the start of the meet. Visiting coaches can make changes upon their arrival. It is recommended that the flight sheets in the shot, discus, high jump and pole vault are written so that the schools alternating flight positions worse to best. Lane assignments should also alternate among schools with each school’s best runners in the first section. (Sample heat/flight sheets are included in this packet)
ENTRIES Each athlete is allowed to enter a maximum of 4 events. Each school may run more than 1 relay team but they must declare their varsity team when checking in with the clerk of the course. Southern 4A Regional Qualifying Standards Each school will receive 1 automatic qualifier per event, whether they meet the standard or not. If athletes meet the qualifying standard, each school may enter a maximum of 4 athletes in the event. Each school may enter 1 team in each of the relay events. There are no relay standards. The times are FAT. Hand held times MUST be rounded up by .24 seconds
